Time for a New Social Contract
There is this unwritten social contract between the governed and the government.
That contract is work hard, get an education, and stay on the right side of the law, and you can create a nice family for you and yours.
That social contract was absolutely shit from the beginning. The system, intentionally or unintentionally, was set up to create winners and losers.
From the beginning, the system worked primarily for white males of the correct skin color and religion.
And now, more so and more so the system only works for old white males that already have more than enough money that could fund decades of social programs.
BIPOC have, by far, got the worst end of this contract, but we all suffer for it.
And I have to ask why?
They’ve given us so little that we’re afraid to lose the little that we actually do have.
But when is enough is enough?
How many people have to die and be disenfranchised until we say “No more!”
How long until we break this contract and forge one that benefits ALL people?
How long?
